Seaham Town Hall Performance Continues to Improve

Published: 23 March 2017

At the recent Finance and General Purposes Committee held on Tuesday 7th March the Town Council received the annual report from Oldfields, the providers of hospitality services at the Town Hall.  The Town Council was pleased to note that the Town Hall, a community building, was being used by the public for a vast array of different activities, events and celebrations only two and half years after it came into use.  Income is now covering the borrowing required for the development of the building from the dilapidated former Red Star Clubhouse and thousands of people have enjoyed the facility since it opened.  Five amateur dramatics groups are staging performances at the Town Hall, many of the weekends in 2017 are now booked for weddings and 2018 and 2019 are also filling up fast, with numerous other dates booked for christenings and birthday parties.  This all demonstrates that the strong business plan and sound financial planning has resulted in a successful community asset that is well used, well respected and wanted.
