Seaham Heritage Association have shortlisted a number of sites of historic heritage within Seaham and have compiled a tourist map and walk instructions to guide visitors on the many heritage sites Seaham has to offer.
The project has:
- Identified suitable buildings which have been granted owners consent;
- The appropriate applications have been approved by Durham County Council's Planning and Conservation Officers;
- The blue plaques have now been received and installed at the identified locations.
Along with the web view, Seaham Heritage Association are working with Durham County Council Economic Development Team and Durham County Council Design Team to put up an interpretive lectern to house the map at the Clock Site on the corner of North Railway Street and North Terrace. Fred Cooper, Chairman of Seaham Heritage Association has attributed the success of this project as an excellent example of collaborative community partnership between local voluntary groups and Durham County Council and Seaham Town Council.
