The Registered Trader Scheme provides contact details of local vetted traders whom can carry out work or provide goods or services to consumers.
Many people don't know where to look for a reputable trader and/or may be frightened that they are going to be over-charged or receive a poor service.
Durham Trading Standards Service has set up the Registered Trader Scheme, in association with the community safety team, the police and other voluntary, public and private sector agencies. The scheme helps the consumer to make an informed choice when they need the services of a trader. It also supports and recognises those businesses which are committed to high standards of trading.
All the businesses that have joined this scheme have been vetted by Durham Trading Standards and have completed the rigorous audit procedure to ensure that they operate in a legal, honest and fair way and all must agree to abide by a Code of Practice.
